Dr. Anna Tibaijuka, Under Secretary General of the United Nations and Executive Director of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-HABITAT), held a meeting with Mr. Reza Pourvaziry, President of IAARA and General Secretary of the World Olympiad for Urban Design on May 13, 2008. The warmth and kindness of Dr. Tibaijuka made the meeting very pleasant, and among the topics discussed were the World Olympiad for Urban Design and USDP.

The meeting took place at Dr. Tibaijuka's hotel suite in the presence of Mr. Seyed Ahmad Nassry, Province Manager of Qazvin, Dr. Mohammad Bahramzadeh, President of the Cultural and Heritage Organization of Tehran Province, Mr. Mohammad Mehdi Rezapour, President of the Cultural and Heritage Organization of Qazvin Province, and Dr. Markandey Rai, Coordinator, Global Parliamentarians at the Monitoring and Research Division of UN-HABITAT.

In the meeting, Mr. Pourvaziry briefed Dr. Tibaijuka on the progress of both programs,and upon her consent she reaffirmed the full support of UN-HABITAT for IAARA programs.

Also present at the meeting were Mr. Hassan Malekpour, Presidential Advisor at IAARA, Haniyeh Riahi, Public Affairs Acting Director, Ali Shams, Administrative Affairs Acting Director, Marjan Khosravi, Architecture Expert, Ali Zandi and Jamal Madjdpour, International Affairs Experts.
